The most sacred mountain of Asia is suited in the west of Tibet, surrounded by craggy territory, almost cut off from the rest of the world. Many pilgrims of different religions surround the mountain for a pilgrimage and during the last decade an increasing number of tourists also find their way to this far away place. For the pilgrims the 6675 m high mountain is the throne of their gods, a place, where the spirits get an earthly face. Kailash talks to the pilgrims. Everybody gets his or her own message. As we approach the mountain for the first time, we also have to listen to what the mountain has to offer for us. I invite you to come with me and visit Mt. Kailash, to dip into this special kind of atmosphere. The tour starts in Kathmandu and via Simikot in the Nepalese district of Humla we reach Tibet.

Flight from Frankfurt to Kathmandu.

2. Day
|
Arrival at Kathmandu.
Reception at the airport and transfer to the hotel.
In the afternoon you may take first steps into the centre of Kathmandu and visit Thamel, the Durbar Square or one of the museums.
Overnight stay at the Tibet Guest House.

3. Day
|
Sightseeing in Kathmandu Valley.
In the morning, we visit the Buddhist Temple Swajambhunath. Afterwards we move on to the old king’s town Patan.
Overnight stay at the Tibet Guest House.

4. Day
|
KATHMANDU – NEPALGUNJ.
Flight from Kathmandu to Nepalganj.
Transfer to the hotel. The afternoon is on your hands.

5. Day
|
NEPALGUNJ – SIMIKOT – MASIGAUN.
Flight from Nepalganj to Simikot. From there we hike to Masigaun. Accommodation in tents.
|

6. Day
|
MASIGAUN – KERMI.
Six to seven hours of trekking from Masigaun to Kermi (elevation: 2690 m). Accommodation in tents.

7. Day
|
KERMI – YANGAR.
Five to six hours of trekking from Kermi to Yangar (elevation: 2900 m). Accommodation in tents.

8. Day
|
YANGAR – MUCHHU.
Five hours of trekking from Yangar to Muchhu. Accommodation in tents.
|
|
9. Day
|
MUCHHU – NARA LA PASS.
Trekking from Muchhu to Nara la pass (elevation: 4330 m). Accommodation in tents.

10. Day
|
NARA LA CAMP – HILSA .
Trekking from Nara la pass to Hilsa (elevation: 3720 m). Hilsa is suited at the frontier of Nepal and Tibet. We leave Nepal and enter to Tibet. In Tibet we go on by car to Purang (elevation: 3770 m). It is a 60 km drive from the frontier to Purang. Accommodation in tents.

|
PURANG – THIRTHAPURI.
Today we drive about six to seven hours from Purang to Thirathapuri (elevation: 4400 m). Accommodation in tents.

12. Day
|
THIRTHAPURI – TOLING.
Today we drive about six to seven hours from Thirathapuri to Toling (elevation: 3700 m). Accommodation at a guesthouse.

13. Day
|
TOLING.
Visit of the old kingdom of Guge. The afternoon is on your hands.

14. Day
|
THOLING – TARPOCHE.
Today we drive from Toling via Monice to Tarpoche (elevation: 4450 m) which takes about eight to nine hours.
Accommodation in tents.

15. Day
|
TAPOCHE – DRIRAPUK.
Today we start our circuit of Mt. Kailash. We hike about 18 km to Derapuk (elevation: 5029 m). Accommodation in tents.

16. Day
|
DRIRAPUK – ZUTHUPHUK.
We continue trekking. Today we hike about 20 km from Derapuk to Zutulpuk via the Dolmala Pass (elevation: 5669 m). Accommodation in tents.

17. Day
|
ZUTHUPHUK – DARCHEN – MANSAROWAR.
We continue circling the mountain. Today we hike from Zutulpuk to Darchen, which is a distance of about 6 km. From there we drive to the Manasarowar lake (elevation: 4500 m). The drive takes about six to seven hours. Accommodation in tents.

MANSAROWAR LAKE.
You get the chance to experience the holy lakes. We hike around the Manasarowar Lake. Accommodation in tents.

19. Day
|
MANSAROWAR SEE – PARYANG.
Today we drive seven to eight hours from the Manasarowar lake to Paryang (elevation: 4400 m). Accommodation in tents.

20. Day
|
PARYANG – SAGA.
Today we drive six to seven hours from Paryang to Saga (elevation: 4400 m). Accommodation in tents.

21. Day
|
SAGA – PEIGUTSO.
Today we drive four to five hours from Saga to Peigutso (elevation: 4500 m). Accommodation in tents.

22. Day
|
PEIGUTSO – NYALAM.
Again we drive four to five hours from Peigutso to Nyalam (elevation: 3900 m). Accommodation in tents.

23. Day
|
NYALAM – KATHMANDU.
This is the last part of our journey. Today we get back to Kathmandu. Tonight we stay at the Dwarikas Village Hotel.

24. Day
|
KATHMANDU.
The day is on yours hands. You can either visit Bhaktapur or the Hindu temple Pashupatinath. Again, we stay at the Dwarikas Village Hotel for the night.

25. Day
|
Transfer to the airport in the early morning. Flight back to Frankfurt.
|
